Our Impact

Environmental Impact

  • As of April 2018, we have recycled 350,000lbs / 159,000kg of Post-Harvest / Waste Banana Trees so far.
  • Banana trees are rapidly renewable and will continuously self-multiply year-round.
  • Cruelty-Free / Bleach-Free / Tree-Free Papers (banana 'trees' are actually just tightly wrapped leaf sheaths & perennial herbs!)
  • Rainwater is collected onsite and used for all water needs
  • Greywater system for neutralizing alkaline water boiled to purify the fibers.
  • Small electric motors powered by our island's solar assisted power grid.
  • Reuse any waste plant material as a soil additive in our banana farm.

Social Impact

  • Our wallets provide 25 Full-Time Jobs created providing a livelihood supporting over 100 people.
  • 100+ Farmers earn extra income from banana trees that would otherwise be waste.
  • Community-based resources belonging to the people.
  • Reviving traditional skills and knowledge in weaving and rope-twisting.
  • Working hard to give our island something to be proud of.

Hey there! I am a chemistry student at University of Barcelona (Spain). We are carrying out a project about banana fiber textile products. I would be very grateful if you could provide us more information about de extraction processes of the fibers and the amount of fibers needed to produce your products.
I am glad that you are doing such a great ethical and sustainable work!
Thank you very much, looking forward to your response.

Hi There! I am in the process of also wanting to create an eco-friendly sustainable product using banana fibres. I have been researching and am having a difficult time finding a good manufacturer. I was wondering if you could help. I really admire and love all that you are doing with your practice. Great ethical practices and sustainable guidelines you have set up.

I am from Kiribati and I do handicraft and teach women as well too. I have been very much interested to try out the banana leaf for handicraft but have no idea who to contact to learn from. Would you be able to accept us if we want to learn from you? Thank you very much.
